The Missouri High School Mock Trial Competition is run by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. It serves over 500 students from more than 40 schools throughout Missouri and is supported by 400 attorneys who volunteer as coaches, judges, and evaluators. The mock trials are structured like real courtroom trials and follow the same rules and procedures, so students learn first-hand how the legal system works and what role judges, lawyers, juries, and witnesses play in the court system. Any Pattonville student who is interested may join the team -- no prior experience necessary. Just listen for announcements in September and come to the informational meetings. We practice in the evenings. Competition begins in January, and may continue through early April, depending on success. Mock trial is perfect for students who are interested in a legal career and for students who are interested in acting and theatre, as roles include lawyers and witnesses.
